Sharp ER-A320 Cash Register Programming Help and Tips
|
Sharp Cash Register program very much like most commercial cash registers do. You should always plan out your
program before you just start programming the register on the fly. Write it down and often even write out your code
before you start plugging in the register. You will be surprised how much faster it will go and with less trouble.
Sharp ER-A320 Cash Register Tax Programming
To Set the Tax Rate (I only deal with Rates and not Tax Tables, most states can use rates and do not require
tables, however if unsure please check with your accountant, CPA, Dept. of Revenue)
- Page 46 in the manual
- Turn key to PGM (program)
- Enter 2711
- Press the Decimal Key
- Press @/For
- Enter 1 (to select tax rate 1)*
- Press @/For
- Enter Rate 0.0001 to 99.9999% (example for 8.8% enter 8.8000)
- Press @/For
- Enter Lowest Taxable Amount which in most places is 1
- Press the CA/AT (Cash Key)
- Make sure you return the key to Reg.
- Perform a Test.
- Please remember this sets the Tax Rate it does not make the department taxable (see next step)
*To enter tax rates 2 through 4 replace 1 with the rate you wish to program.
My preference is to program Sharp Cash Registers using the Job-Code Based Programming rather then the direct
method also available in some models. Everything on the page will be Job-Code Based Only.
Sharp ER-A320 Cash Register Taxable/Non Taxable Department Programming
To make a department Taxable
- Page 47 of the manual
- Turn key to PGM (Program)
- Enter 2111
- Enter Decimal
- Press @/For
- Enter XX (department number to be programmed 1 through 10)
- Press @/For
- Enter 000001 for Tax Rate 1 or 000010 for tax rate 2 or 000100 for tax rate 3 or 001000 for tax rate 4
- Press #/TM/SBTL button
- Press CA/AT ( Cash)
- Make sure you return the key to Reg
- Perform a test
Notes: you can make a department taxable by multiple tax rates for example to make a department taxable by rates 1
and 2 you would enter 000011 as the code.
This does not make a department open or preset
This code assumes a plus department not a minus

To make a department open or preset
- Page 47 of the manual
- Turn key to PGM (Program)
- Enter 2110
- Enter Decimal
- Press @/For
- Enter XX (department number to be programmed 1 through 10)
- Press @/For
- Enter 0001 for Open, or 0002 for Pre-Set, or 0003 for Open and Preset, or 0000 to inhibit the department.
- Press #/TM/SBTL button
- Press CA/AT ( Cash)
- Make sure you return the key to Reg
- Perform a test
There is more to this program although those feature are very seldom used. In this example I left the Validation print
Non Compulsory, Normal Sales departments, and Normal vs. Hash.

To make a department open or preset
- Page 46 of the manual
- Turn key to PGM (Program)
- Enter 1110
- Enter Decimal
- Press @/For
- Enter XX (department number to be programmed 1 through 10)
- Press @/For
- Enter price you would like pre-set (do not use a decimal, it will be auto set example for $1.00 you would enter
100
- Press #/TM/SBTL button
- Press CA/AT ( Cash)
- Make sure you return the key to Reg
- Perform a test
